No Host - Spirit Farm

When things get too complicated, they get cut altogether.

For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. (1 Corinthians 2:2)

The Oscars were last night, and they skipped the “Host” role, again. Inviting someone to host has just become too loaded, too complicated, and fraught with landmines.

Who wouldn’t be crucified by some side? Who wouldn’t argue because of some issue? How would they dodge protest because of some oversight?

Culture is so fractured, confused, and divided that the Academy has decided they can’t win. So… no host.

Perhaps that’s why Paul coached people following Jesus —“Don’t complicate this. Jesus… Death… Resurrection… For everyone.”

Sure, in some letters he gave more specific context. But always based on particular problems in a particular time and space. When it came down to it, the main thing was the main thing was the main thing.

Wouldn’t that be nice?
