“You can borrow knowledge, but not action.”—James Clear
Knowledge alone makes us imposters. We become insecure at our core because we know something is missing. But we cover for it with arguments, statistics, impressive language, Bible verses, categories and judgment. But no real character. No real impact. No real love.
And… no joy. We don’t enjoy that kind of life.
But… when we take action, and let knowledge work itself out authentically through our actual lives, the truth sets us free. Then, as if looking into a mirror, we become more like ourselves.
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.” (James 1:22-24)
